Super Naani is a Bollywood drama film directed by Indra Kumar and produced by Indra Kumar, Ashok Thakeria starring Rekha, Sharman Joshi, Randhir Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Shweta kumar. The story is about a selfless grandma of about 60 years old. She is worth as much as a kitchen mop as per her elfish family. But then returns her grandson from foreign who transforms her into a Pygmalion style and woman of substance.

The thought on woman’s empowerment is shown in this lm, Super Naani. Bharti Bhati played by Rekha is the grandmother of Mann played by Sharman Joshi, an NRI who gets tensed up while speaking Hindi. This was supposed to create laughter but unfortunately that failed. He arrives to India without any luggage to see his grandmother.

There he sees that she is being relegated only to the kitchen by her family. Her boorish husband, R K Bhatia played by Randhir Kapoor, her son, her daughter-in-law who always dreams to be an actress and her irritating daughter. All of them make their chances to remind Bharti that she shouldn’t aven try to cross their house threshold.

In the first half, you’ll see the bechari naani with grey hair strands on her head and dark under eye circles always talking to her God, Kanha while in the second half, her grandson takes her to the beauty parlour and voila, here is our Rekha, the mannequin.

Super naani is here in the second half like a super model and nothing less than that. She does take offs on film greats such as Nargis, Rehman, Waheeda and Madhubala. When you are full of laughter and about to fall off your seat, you’l find that she already won the woman of substance award by simply inculcating values in her children and her husband.

Somewhere while watching the film, you’ll wonder why gorgeous Rekha agreed to do this film. She’s definitely a frog in the well. She must not have watched English Vinglish and Queen during her parliament break.
