Roar: Tigers of Sundarbans is a Bollywood film directed by Kamal Sadanah and produced by Abis Rizvi starring.Pandit played by Abhinav Shukla with his team of commandos enter the core and prohibited area of the forest of Sundarbans. Pandit decides to do this to avenge his photo journalist brother’s death. He was killed by a forest white tigress.

To complete their mission successfully, these people seek the help of a local guide, Madhu and tracker Jhumpa palyed by Pranay Dixit and Himarsha V respectively. The hunters soon realize that their plan may not be fool proof like they thought and their lives may be in danger. They had to run out of useful resources in that dense forest and being chased by a local poacher Bheera played by Subat Dutta, they had to face tigers too. They were forced to take the test of survival.

The director dared to make an animal centric thriller film. This genre was unexplored till now in Bollywood till Kamal did. Those who aren’t hooked to the Hollywood films of the same genre may like to watch this film attempted for first time.

The background score, sound effects, cinematography and visual effects managed to create tense effects especially the aerial shots.

The negative points include the weak plot. This turned out to be a big spoiler. No person with common sense can dare and risk his life to hunt a tigress for revenge by entering a dangerous forest. It is illogical, unethical, and immoral. This may be a survival thriller but it failed to hold audience attention.

Not only the plot but the performances also are disappointing. Abhinav Shukla is ok but with no scope while the rest are bad and forgettable. Nora Fatehis’s clothes are so inappropriate while Himarsha V’s dialogues are weird. The commentary about the forest’s history and culture is too boring.

Still if you are obsessed with the tigers and Sunderbans, you can watch it.
