If you are wondering why the movie had such hype, it is only because it was the last film of the great actor Rajesh Khanna. You don’t have to watch the movie necessarily unless you are a great fan of the veteran actor. The plot has too many flaws and is definitely the worst possible adaptation of the hit “The Godfather”.

As the movie proceeds, you will wonder why the late superstar even agreed to do this movie in the first place. He looks disinterested and there are scenes where it is very much evident in his face. His voice is feeble and too low that at times you might think that the director could have got a mimicry artist to dub for him. Rajesh Khanna could have tried to look at least a little interested in the movie. I suppose that the audience where eager for the movie to be out and were more interested in the movie compared to how he was. This is the film’s first fail.

In a typical movie adaptation of “The Godfather” the silence and the characters are supposed to create an effect of interest but that is not the case with “Riyasat”. The plot takes its own time and proceeds unexpectedly slow. Literally, the director tests the patience of the audience by making all the dialogues of all the characters in movie is delivered in such a low tone.

The characters can’t be blamed for their acting skills are good. If there is something to be blamed, it is the way the narration and the script were presented. The director could have been a little merciful with the dialogues and could have avoided making the audience get extremely irritated at the pace they delivered it in.

Apart from that, the movie fails miserably when it comes to becoming a close and vivid adaptation of the hit movie “The Godfather”. The young actors Aryan Vaid and Aryeman Ramsay might have a great future in the field but that can be predicted only if they were made to act in another director’s movie.

Verdict: Overall, it's a below average film and you can watch this movie if you are really a great fan of Rajesh Khanna, else it’s better to skip.
