Ra Ra Krishnayya is a Tollywood romance based film directed by Mahesh P and produced by Vamsi Krishna Srinivas starring Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra, Jagapathi Babu, Kalyani. It was released on 4th July, 2014 which was inspired by the 2012 Hindi film, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya which was yet again inspired by 1997 English film, A Life Less Ordinary.
The story revolves around a cab driver, Krishna in Chennai who saves his money with the cab owner Manikyam. Manikyam refuses to return his money back and so Krishna kidnaps his daughter, Nandu who doesn’t like Manikyam’s decision about her marriage and so is happy for being kidnapped. The situation makes them fall in love with each other and when Krishna was about to get the money, Nandu gets kidnapped by another kidnapper. The rest of the story is about the new kidnapper and his connection with Krishna.
First half of this film became the major plus point. Entertaining comedy and love story can be seen in this part. Both the leads share a nice chemistry with each other. Sundeep has developed his acting skills in this film and played his role with ease and perfection. Even Regina has done her dominating character very well becoming the highlight of the film. Her glamour shows well in this film and the director showed her in a very lively and entertaining way. Jagapathi Babu also have done a great job but his role was small and could not be utilized well.
Songs and music also became a highlight in Ra Ra Krishnayya. All the songs were shot and executed perfectly. Even all the comedians have done their part quite decently.
Drawbwcks includes low utilization of Jagapathi Babu’s role and his skills even though he has done a wonderful job. The depth required in his character was obviously missing. The power packed performance we expect from him is missing here.
The second half goes down after the amazing first half. Sundeep has nothing to do much here and many characters keep coming in and out. Moreover the chemistry shared between the two leads abd the bond between the siblings is also not shown properly. Climax is also not so special.
Camera work was done perfectly and the visuals look stunning. Music also turned out a major plus and all the songs are good. Screenplay is good in the first half compared to the second half.
Verdict: Second half disappoints slightly after a nice and engaging first half. You’ll love the leads chemistry and the beautiful songs if you get into the theatre without much expectation.
