Disney’s movie “cars” was a movie that was accepted as a different attempt and encouraged. However, it failed to do well like the movie “Herbie”. The establishment of cars as the cast in a movie was quite okay for starts.
However, “Planes” was a good attempt in animation and aviation put together for action. The hype created by the prequel gave in to a sequel which was an average attempt in making the audience crave for the earlier attempted magic in the movie.
The lead is voiced by Dane cook, for the role of Dusty Crop hopper. Dusty is an enthusiastic and lively plane and just like others, he too likes a good race. However dusty and his skills are put to rest as he faces a terrible accident where his gear box fails. A mechanic plane tells him that he should refrain from all racing activities.
Dusty then takes up a job in the fire squad which itself comes with its own ups and downs. But for dusty, there was one thing to be happy of. He still had a chance to face thrill and enjoy saving others from fire. As days pass, he excels in his new job and slowly moves on from his earlier accident that crashed his dreams.
Overall, the animation of the movie and the effects are good, but the movie fails to connect to the audience from any character’s point of view. There are some jokes that include flying terms but often these are boring and sound too technical for a joke. Disney’s production “Cars” itself was a movie that succeeded because of a different attempt. “Planes” could have been like “Cars” but the prequel was completely different from “Cars”.
Once again, the prequel “Planes” was a movie that succeeded for its different attempt. The sequel was not as satisfying as the prequel was and that is a total disappointment for avid fans of the prequel.
Verdict: Over all, the movie is a good watch and a great option for time pass if you are looking just for a movie and not a storyline.
