Pizza is a Hollywood horror film directed by Akshay Akkineni and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Bejoy Nambiar starring Akshay Oberoi, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Dipannita Sharma.
Hollywood has always been experimenting with horror and psychological thrillers. And it is high time that Bollywood did the same too. But with “Pizza” the trend has been reset.
A movie remake of the Tamil hit film of the same name; “Pizza” does not fail to satisfy the thirst of movie goers who expect something different. Starring Akshay Oberoi and Paravathy Omanakuttan in the lead, the movie has very few characters that help in spinning the tale. Right from the lead to the supporting actors, the movie has the perfect cast.
Nikita and Kunal is a happily married couple. Nikita is a horror fiction writer, struggling to make it in the world of literature. She believes that her husband will have his moment of horror until which he wouldn’t believe anything. Kunal tries to avoid the thought and pushes it away from his head, not wanting to accept reality.
One day, just as Nikita predicts, Kunal experiences his moment and it is from that day that the haunting begins. He is a pizza delivery boy by profession and one day he delivers pizza to a house, a haunted house. Mysterious murders and the characters from the murders are the ghosts and this is how the thrill quotient of the film is unveiled.
The various twists and turns in the movie are fresh and new when compared to the regularly clichéd scenes in other horror movies. This is the factor that sets “Pizza” apart from all the other horror movies till date. The ending is rather unpredictable as is the entire plot of the movie. Though the movie does not have major supporting actor roles, the small roles still make an impression in the viewer’s heart. Parvathy Omanakuttan and Akshay Oberoi can be expected in lot movies in future as their acting is unexpectedly good.
There are no clichéd horror scenes like a creaking closet or so but instead you are provided with scenes that are fresh and thrilling. The director makes sure that the viewers are unable to predict the movie. This movie makes you typically sit in the edge of your seats, biting your nails.
Verdict: Overall, it’s an unpredictable good movie, you can definitely go for a watch but it’s recommended for the faint hearted not to watch it.
