Lateef is a Hindi crime based film directed by Sharique Minhaj and produced by Reenu K Seth starring Hamid Khan, Bharti Sharma. This was released on 1st Aug, 2014. It’s based on a real story in Gujarat during the 80s wich covers the rise and fall of the gangster, Abdul lateef.
The entire film revolves around the underworld’s nexus, politicians and police in Gujarat. The story is all about how lateef became the crime lord, why his followers revered him before he was encountered by the Ahmedabad police.
The intention behind this film making is sincere but unfortunately the production values, acting skills, and storytelling failed badly. The tension, pace, emotions and continuity lacks in the execution of Lateef. The lead actor was so bad and couldn’t justify the character lacking his screen presence. Even the twist couldn’t evoke any kind of reaction in the audience.
You just need to feel satisfied for bringing the untold story in front of you.
Verdict: Overall the film must be skipped unless you want to know the untold story. Do not expect more than this from this film.
