Kya Dilli Kya Lahore is a Bollwood movie set in the year 1948 is directed by Vijay Raaz and produced by Karan Arora with the stars Vijay Raaz, Manu Rishi, Raz Zutshi and Vishwajeet Pradhan. He credits Gulzar as the movie presenter. This was released on 2nd May, 2014.
The movie, Kya Dilli Kya Lahore revolves around two soldiers belonging to India and Pakistan each and how they develop bond with the twisted fate because of the bloody country partition.
The battle at the border, firings and the dialogues form the entire film set at the year 1948 when the partition was done with the blood but today it became dull and the battle lines became harder and everything changed. Kya Dilli Kya Lahore deals with languid laughter and dark humor.
The writer and lyricist, Gulzar presented and narrated the story where a Pakistani soldier, Rehmat played by Raaz born in Delhi is misplaced in Pakistan and an Indian soldier born in Lahore and has been placed in India. The conversations, dialogues, blood and bullets warm up the heart-rending tale.
The story is kept focused on the two characters, the two soldiers in the same location throughout the film. It’s a very rare attempt in Indian cinema. The main story lies in the dialogues like emotional poetry. The movie also feels so long but still the performances by Raaz and Rishi are excellent and the background score definitely adds heaviness.
The poetic prologue is one of finest things about Kya Dilli Kya Lahore. The story’s heart is placed at the right place, pure and undivided like pre-partition brotherhood.
Verdict: Kya Dilli Kya Lahore is a heart touching story set in 1948 with just limited characters in it and mainly focusing on two soldiers sharing their twisted fate with each other with bullets, blood and dialogues. It’s one of the must watch movies.
