Kiraak is a telugu film directed by Haarik and produced by Gangapatnam Sridhar starring Anirudh, Chandini. The story is about Rakesh who is a big fan of Pawan Kalyan falls in love with Amrutha, a fan of Mahesh babu. When he realizes she’s in love with him, he gets a video camera which changes his life.
Well, first of all the title has no connection with story. Actually, there are multiple stories being tried to narrate. There may be so called a good intention to focus on a social issue but the filmmaker is totally clueless on what’s he trying to tell here. Simply, the script is terrible.
Rakesh, a big fan of Pawan Kalyan has the habits of imitating and referring to Pawan Kalyan. He wants to be a filmmaker in which his father doesn’t show any interest. However, to make him happy, his mother gifts him a video camera. Meanwhile he falls in love with Amrutha, a big fan of Mahesh Babu who studies in the same college. While coming back to the camera, Rakesh realizes that the camera is haunted. Rest of the story is the mystery about that camera and how Rakesh solves it.
The ridiculous script doesn’t let us understand the events unfolding on the screen. The idea of camera having life and showing events that never happened is stupid. And when you start getting interested, the ghost pops out of the camera and starts tormenting Rakesh and his friends. All these events instead of scaring you, they just make you feel bored and laugh to the least.
The filmmaker thought of a social concept but the film doesn’t show a hint connecting to it which turned out to be a big con. By the time the main concept is revealed about girl child’s safety, you are left with confusion on how this concept found the way into the script. It’s like even a short film can do better than this 2 hour long film.
Anirudh did his part with ease in the first half while Chandini’s role went wasted with poorly written role. The only positive in this film is its music. Gaale, a song is well composed.
Verdict: Overall Kiraak, is a must skip type of film. It’s better to go watch something better and save your time and mood. This film is not going to satisfy you.
