Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is a hindi romantic film directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar starring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Ashutosh Rana, Siddharth Shukla and was released on 11th July, 2014.
It’s another take on Dilwale Dulhania Lejayenge with a new revamped story set in today’s scenario. Kavya, a mdern girl is from Ambala who is ready to marry an NRI. For her wedding shopping, she visits Delhi and meets Humpty Sharma. Both of them become friends and slowly fall in love with each other but unfortunately, Kavya can’t say no to her father and returns Ambala. Then the story begins with Humpty landing in Ambala and getting her back.
Varun Dhawan is exceptionally good at acting even since his very first film and the same way he played the role of Humpty with ease. Innocent and cute emotions by him are quite good. Alia was also so good in this film. She is the star of Humty Sharma Ki Dulhania. She had done an excellent job with great confidence as Kavya. Moreover she looks beautiful in this film and the chemistry between these two leads is also good. All the remaining actors in this film have also done superb job at their respective roles. The music turned out a big plus and all the songs were composed and shot perfectly.
Coming to the drawbacks, since the film is a take on DDLJ, there are many scenes similar to DDLJ which you may not like. The second half is quite predictable as the hero enters the scene. Siddharth Shukla’s character is not justified with no much importance. The director could have used him in a better way.
The music is superb and the camera work is also good. Screenplay is ok and the production values are good as always since it’s Karan Johar’s production. All the dialogues connect the young audience. Both editing and background score are excellent. The director did a decent work with this film paying perfect tribute to DDLJ.
Verdict:
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is another take on DDLJ and there’s nothing new in it but since the way the film has been set and narrated in a new, young and entertaining manner, it’s worth a watch for sure.
