Hercules is a Hollywood adventure film directed by Brett Ratner and produced by Brett Ratner, Barry Levine, Beau Flynn starring Dwayne Johnson, Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan, John Hurt. It was released on 25th July, 2014.

Hercules is the leader of mercenaries with loyal crew consisting Amphiaraus, Autolycus, Tydeus, Atlanta, and Lolaus. Hercules is the demigod son of Zeus who completed the legendary Twelve labors and betrayed by Hera. Hercules rejected Zeus and chose to live as mortal.

One day, during a feast, Lord Cotys’s daughter, Ergenia approaches Hercules and offers them gold in weight to help him defeat the warlord Rhesus. Hercules was asked to train Corys’s army. Hercules accepted the offer and trains the army well. But there was something wrong with Coty. What is that? To know more, the action and adventure should be watched on the big screen itself.

Hercules is a solid entertaining, grandly staged and old fashioned adventure type of film that cuts the mythical son of Zeus to humanly type. The eye popping and fast paced action, impressive effects were highlight in this film. Johnson’s entrance wearing a conquered lion’s head and a loincloth skirt was perfect. But still the film failed to reach the audience expectations even with the endless computer generated effects.

Verdict: Overall Hercules is an above average film. If you are a fan of Johnson or such type of adventurous and action films, you may enjoy the film.
