Haider is a Hindi drama film directed by Vishal Bharadwaj and produced by Siddharth roy kapoor starring Shahid kapoor, Shraddha kapoor, Tabu, Kay kay menon.

T is based on William Shakesphere’s Halmet set in Kashmir. In this film Haider (Shahid Kapoor), a poetry student returns to home from Aligarh. His father, a doctor who tried to save a militant family and kept in jail by the army police, and Haider’s mother, Ghazala (Tabu)was sent to his uncle’s house, army people also destroy their house. Haider after returning to home by seeing his mother half-widowed he starts his journey to find his father and for those who are responsible. Ghazala Haider’s mother was a half-widow whose husband was taken by army and even after her house was blown up in front of her eyes. She was not the type of just sitting and crying but she enjoys her life with her brother-in-law (Kay Kay Menon). When Haider return home firstly he finds out his father disappeared and his half-widowed mother getting cozy with his uncle. He is shattered. At some point, he forgives his mother, but standing his uncle isn’t possible at all. Haider’s love interest is Arshia (Sraddha), a chirpy reporter who tries to help Haider find his father, we have to watch on screen that how Haider found his father and how a poetry student turned into a murderer.

Shahid Kapoor is back with a terrific performance after a long time. Tabu’s performance was absolutely mind-blowing, as a mother she loves her son and behind closed doors doesn’t hesitate to enjoy her life with her brother in law. Shraddha Kapoor’s acting was good. Kay Kay Menon and Irfan khan in a special appearance was good, the entire cast done justice for their respective roles and put up a good show. Here mainly we have to talk about the editing work with beautiful background music which takes audience to Srinagar in view.

Bharadwaj keeps the Hamlet inspiration on track with few changes but what he plays wonderfully with mother-son relationship that goes through a lot of emotions, ups and downs. In film Shahid Kapoor’s acting was very good and gave a standing ovation by critics too. Shraddha Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor chemistry was done well on screen.

The only problem with Haider is its length of 2 hours and 40 minutes. It could have been much shorter, unnecessarily dragged much. Music by Vishal bharadwaj was good but not great for the film.

Verdict: Haider is a sure shot winner. It’s a very good film of emotions. Everyone can watch the film and can get a good feel by watching it.
