Godzilla is a Hollywood science fiction monster film directed by Gareth Edwards and produced by Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Mary Parent, and Brian Rogers starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston.
Godzilla is the story revolving around monsters where Godzilla fights with the MUTOs in the battle which decides the city’s fate.
A nuclear physicist, Joe Brody (Cranston) investigates strange things happening at Janjira power plant in Japan mean while he loses his wife, Sandra (Binoche) and others in the plant. It seems a natural accident which Brody believes it isn’t. He strongly believes something killed her and his single minded scientific pursuit turns into obsession and causing estranged from his son who grows up unlike his father living with his wife and son and serving US Navy as a bomb expert. The first half of the movie consists of the entries of these MUTOs (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms) one male and one female.
First half of the movie seems slow but all the actions and effects can be found in the second half where the Godzilla’s impulse is disturbed and it attacks the MUTO’s. The size, measurements and design is look good on the screen but the Godzilla we saw in the previous movies were quite different than this one. The jaw size and the design changed entirely. However the Godzilla still won over hearts with its fight, looks and especially the roar which is not for the faint hearts. It fights and kills the MUTOs and the next day, Brody re-unites with his wife and son after a long separation. Godzilla seen lying on the ground is thought to be dead when it suddenly wakes up, looks at the people and moves towards the sea. Finally it gives a big heart winning roar before jumping into the water.
Verdict: Overall Godzilla is a good movie but the effects seemed less than expected. The fight with MUTOs was quite interesting.
