Ekkees Toppon Ki Sallami is  a Hindi drama film directed by Ravindra Gautam and produced by  starring Anupam Kher, Aditi Sharma, Divyendu Sharma, Manu Rishi Chandra, Neha Dhupia.

When a common man who follows the right path always gets disgraced and his integrity gets questioned, his reputation gets damaged and ideals dismissed, he has to ask for respect he deserves somehow. But his sons find this out dated and futile in such practical world. The story is about how he fulfills his last wish. How will he do this without his sons’ support?

For a common man, self-respect matters more than his pay cheque. Purushottam Narayan Joshi played by Anupam Kher lives in a modern chawl who will be retired soon. He serves the BMC diligently for 37 years as a jamadar. He feels pride in his disciplines, morals and his work ethics while his sons, Shekhar played by Manu Rishi Chandha and Subhash played by Divyendu Sharma think the other way. They find their father’s lectures boring and his low paying job worthless.

Then a heartbreaking incident takes place when these two guys are forced to analyze their mindset. On his deathbed, Purushottam wishes for a 21 cannon salute for his flawless character as an acknowledgement and as a certificate of respect he always dreamt for. Now there is a corrupt politician, his publicity seeking mistress and his opportunistic mother who are all set to show their agendas. What’s going to happen now?

This film should receive salutes for unique concept. Usually films with social cause get much preachy but the execution of this film was unconventional. The director skillfully made it a success. As always Anupam Kher proved his skills once again. His heart rendering performance is definitely going to bring tears in your eyes.

Aditi Sharma, Uttara Baokar and Neha Dhupia successfully left their mark well. The film is a social satire and few scenes in the second half which were supposed to be comic turned out far-fetched. Pace of the film drops at certain time but quickly picks up too fortunately.

These days when material things matters a lot more than people and good values, this film, Ekkes Toppon Ki Salaami is a nice socially relevant film. This is actually a philosophy and not a film.
