Edge of Tomorrow is an American military science fiction film directed by Doug Limen and Erin Stoff; and produced by Tom Lassally, Jeffrey Silver, Gregory Jacobs and Jason Hoffs starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
A race of aliens named Mimics have taken over Europe. Major William Cage played by tom Cruise who is a member of NATO-led United Defense Forces (UDF) goes to London to meet General Brigham played by Brendan Gleeson. Brigham states UDF’s intentions to launch Operation Downfall against Mimics.
Cage blackmails Bringham and while doing so, he gets arrested and sent to staging point at Heathrow Airport forcibly where he is deployed with J-Squad. There’s an entity called the Omega which controls the Mimics which has taken over most of the Europe. They have time control powers and they can learn and use same tactics humans use. Alpha Mimic is more powerful than any other ordinary mimic which was killed by Cage. In that sequence Cage dies but Mimic’s powers gets transferred to Cage and he wakes up. He meets Master Sergeant Farrell Bartolome and is deployed and dies in a different manner. The infinite loop is terrific from where he can either relieve or he should destroy the Omega and go out of the loop.
Verdict: Cruise’s fighting sequences in the film is fascinating. Writer Hiroshi Sakurazaka did excellent job with solid sci-fi credentials in the story. Edge of Tomorrow is an excellent and must watch movie. It’s successful in entertaining the audience the max.
