Drushyam is a telugu emotional thriller film which is a remake of 2013 Malyalam film, Drishyam directed by Sripriya and produced by .Suresh babu, Rajkumar Sethupathi. It was released on 11th June, 2014.
The film revolves around Ram Babu, an honest cable operator in a small village called Rajavaram at Aruku and his small family. He lives with his wife Jyothi and two daughters, Anju and Anu happily. Then the story begins and suddenly when his elder daughter commits a crime for self protection which makes the entire family face the police. The entire story revolves around how Ram Babu solves the problem and saves his family from this trouble.
Coming to the performances, Venkatesh has done a mature role this time. Once again he proved that no one can beat him when it comes to sentimental and emotional family dramas. He justifies the role of Ram Babu with heart touching emotions especially the confrontation scenes with the police. He carries the entire film on his shoulders. Meena also have done a great job supporting Venkatesh as his wife in the film. The major plus points that reached the audience hearts were the family emotions and the bond they had with each other. The two girls who did Venkatesh’s daughters’ roles were exceptional. Even suspense and thrill which was showcased though out the film became plus points. The film after the first fifteen minutes till the end holds your attention totally. Nadia did a superb job as a police officer in Drushyam.
The first fifteen minutes of Drushyam turned out a minus slightly since it seemed very ordinary with no much special. Even the romance between Venkatesh and Meena seems unnecessary and forced. If you have already watched this film in Malyalam version, then you can’t enjoy it. Few locations and scenes are quite similar to those in Malyalam version of this film. They could have changed it.
The story is quite unique and different from other Telugu films. A family and the thrilling mystery made Drushyam quite interesting. Both music and background score of this film were quite ok. Camerawork is quite good and so is the editing which adds depth to the story. Lyrics and dialogues were also good while screenplay was brilliant. The way the suspense was revealed was also good. The director handled the film cleverly and brilliantly.
Verdict:
Drushyam is a kind of film that works always. Excellent performances by all the actors, screenplay, suspense and thrill in Drushyam is a must watch with your family and friends.
