Dolphin Tale 2 is an English family drama film directed by Charles Martin Smith and produced by Robert Engelman, Broderick Johnson, Andrew A. Kosove starring Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble, Kris Kristofferson, Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Morgan Freeman.
This film is a sequel to Dolphin Tale. When Winter’s companion dolphin is passed away due to old age, the marine team of experts at Clearwater Marine Aquarium who rescued Winter in Dolphin Tale earlier, now try to find yet another dolphin companion before they lose custody of her to another facility which offers Winter better care.
Finding a new companion dolphin for Winter is a big task for the team at CMA (Clearwater Marine Aquarium) since dolphins are social species and they get depressed when isotated leading to many health problems.
Dr. Clay Haskett, Aquarium Head and the teenager, Sawyer had bonded with the bottle nosed dolphin in the Dolphin Tale are well aware of this. Sawyer is now an instructor at the aquarium. Dr. Clay now faces more pressure from the aquarium’s investors since as a star attraction, Winter is their money spinner. Simply no one is happy by letting go Winter.
In some other development, Sawyer is also offered a study program to involve him to be at sea for some period of time separating him from Winter but he can’t go till he finds a new companion is found for this depressed dolphin.
Then an injured dolphin is found and everyone including Clay’s daughter, Hazel hopes that this new addition of a dolphin to the aquarium will help Winter but this new dolphin, Hope couldn’t warm up to Winter since the latter has a prosthetic tail. So, now Dr. Cameron McCarthy plans to design a more natural looking appendage.
Smith doesn’t make any attempt to give the dolphins an anthropomorphic treatment and this is really appreciable about Dolphin Tale 2.
The plot did have few overly emotional parts and this tale is told sensitively as well as the benefit includes some serious research work on these intelligent creatures.
Verdict: Few beautiful scenes featured in this film will definitely warm up your heart and is a whole some family tale.
