Deliver Us from Evil is a Hollywood horror film based on the novel, "Beware the Night" by Ralph Sarchie and Lisa Collier Cool. This wasw directed by Scott Derrickson and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer starring Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn, Sean Harris, Joel McHale.

Ralph Sarchie (Bana)a special ops cop in the New york police department, hears voice and radio static while on the job, Ralph gets drawn to cases not originally assigned to him and his partner Butler(McHale) prefers to call it as Sarchie’s radar. Butler is an adsenaline junkie convinced that his partner Ralph is usually right about his huncher. But in a week span of time they have close encounters of the demonic kind, which would end badly for both or either. Meanwhile Ralph finds an unlikely ally im am undercover Catholic Priest Mendoza (Ramirez), who offers a help for Ralph.

Bana after his last, Lone Survivor, the actor’s intense performance somewhat lift the drab film as does his banter with McHale and Ramirez. In this film someone who tries to resuscitate dead babies, escapes a lion attack gets a ton of germs from being close to a decomposing murder victim, routinely gets bitten by possessed people does not believe in god. While this film has only a couple of genuine sacred scenes, it’s nothing that has your reaching for someone’s arm. The exorcism seem too easy not too believable. Somehow we don’t buy the lack of faith argument.

Verdict: Deliver us from evil supposedly based on a true story, it is a cautionary tale. All we can say is Deliver us from evil is an average film.
