Daawat-E-Ishq is a Bollywood comedy drama film directed by Habib Faisal and produced by Aditya Chopra starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Parineeti Chopra.
The flavors of love come through the best known path, i.e., stomach. Daawat seems good but will the love blossom with some delicious taste.
Food is very magical and it can inspire love, art, poetry and also cinema. The director, Habib Faisal of this film turned out to be a master chef and works on the kitchen to make kebabs, dough and many delicious sweets to make the film a big feast for the eyes.
Here enters Gulrez from Hyderabad who is feisty, gusty and like English speaking men. But unfortunately, her Booji finds only dowry seeking men who hold waste degrees from IIM (International Institute of Mehboobnagar). She is a sales girl at a shoe store but she wants to be a shoe designer.
She plans with her mastermind along with Booji a con-plan to frame dowry demanding grooms to make her dream come true. But all her plans get flop when she meets Lucknow ka aashiq Tariq, a chef and owner of a restaurant, Haidari Kababs. He woos her with rotis, botis, and shahi tukdasof his heart while Gulrez gets down slowly to the aromas of love.
Faisal’s story is definitely refreshing and the food is fresher than a packaged and frozen one. But when his attention is away from the plot, it boils over and flavor is lost. The second half of the film crumbles like few recipes got mixed and the climax is not much slurp worthy. You’ll watch few specials like Booji’s goofiness during the con-act and the dowry demanding men getting trapped. The characters aren’t that indulgent like the dishes.
Parineeti shows high calories in her emotions yet again with her Hyderabadi accent and great confidence. Aditya shows his Lucknow style very charmingly and fairly. The chemistry between the lead pair doesn’t simmer and it’s like a low fat kulfi. Kher also brilliants with his sorbet act.
Verdict: Daawat-E-Ishq is definitely going to entertain you and for the deliciousness, you must go and watch it once.
