Bobby Jasoos

Bobby Jasoos is a Hindi drama or thriller film directed by Samar Shaikh and produced by Mirza, Sahil Sangha, Reliance Entertainment starring Vidya Balan, Ali Fazal. It was released on 4^th July, 2014 and the story is about Bilkis “Bobby” Ahmad, a Hyderabadi woman who dreams and aspires to be a detective despite facing many obstacles.

Bobby Jasoos is jobless but she aspires to be a detective. So she snoops on unsuspecting people including her boyfriend, her sister and other street people to earn some petty money. And then a client gives her an assignment. The first half is interesting but then it drags to halt where the assignment takes the center stage. Vidya Balan is hero in this film. She runs across alleys in canvas shoes and fights with her dad as well. But the film could have been better. It wasted lots of time by dealing with Bobby’s problems with family.

Her case was to find two missing girls, Nilofer and Amna. Bobby takes up many getups such as a beggar, a hawker, a peon, a nerd student, a fake TV producer, and an astrologer. After solving the case, she gets good fees. But he also pays to the two girls which surprises Bobby. He then offers her another case of finding a boy named Ali. Meanwhile her marriage gets fixed with Tasawur by both the families. When both of them are in a dilemma on how to stop their marriage, a local goon Lala offers Bobby a case to break his girlfriend’s marriage which was fixed against his girlfriend’s will. Then Lala makes Bobby realize that she’s helping the NRI for a wrong cause. So, Bobby starts to find out the two girls and comes to know that they are missing. She gets scared and takes Tasawur’s help and sneeks into Kiram’s hotel room. She somehow manages to get his old diary and an old photo which later Lala finds and starts following her since then. Using many clues, Bobby manages to know his background. So, is Kiran a good person or is there any evil plans going in his mind? To know what is happening exactly, Bobby Jasoos should be watched on screen.

Coming to the performances, Vidya have done her part with ease playing the bubbly, happy go lucky girl. Even Ali Fazal has also done quite a great job. Actors like Supriya Pathak, Kiran Kumar, Zarina Wahab, and Rajendra Gupta also have justified their roles well.

But the climax isn’t good at all. We don’t know if she became a professional jasoos or not. We even don’t know what happened to Vidya and Ali love story.

Verdict: Bobby Jasoos is a good watchable film. Go watch it for Vidya Balan, Ali Fazal and their chemistry.
