Autonagar Surya is a Telugu film directed by Deva Katta and produced by K. Achi Reddy starring Naga Chaitanya, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Rakul Preet Singh. It was released on 27th June, 2014.
The film was set in 1980s and the story revolves around an orphan, Surya who is a mechanic in Autonagar. Unfortunately he kills a goon and goes to jail. He completes his engineering spending 5 years at jail. His dream project is to build a vehicle that runs only on battery. But he faces many problems while doing this project from the city Mayor and his henchmen who control the Autonagar. The story is all about how Surya deals with it.
This film will show you improved Naga Chaitanya as an actor. He’ll show you his improved acting skills. Improved Chaitanya’s powerful dialogues and his role was quite impressive and he also did the difficult role with ease. Few of the featuring scenes of Caitanya and Samantha were very nice and like always she had done her job very nicely.
Unfortunately the film felt like dragging too long. While the first half was gripping, the second half started disappointingly and without stopping there, the film spoils the fun with an item song. It has way too violent and seemed predictable. Climax also was so weak was completed in hurry. Unfortunately, you can’t see Samantha much in this film. She was just an attraction here and her role got wasted.
The dialogues were awesome but the screenplay was just ok. Unnecessary songs and unnecessary scenes can also be found in the second half of the film. Few scenes disappoint us badly without reaching to our expectations.
Verdict: Autonagar Surya can be preferred to watch just improved Naga Chaitanya but it’s an average movie.
