Anukshanam is Telugu crime thriller film directed by Ram Gopal Varma and produced by Vishnu Manchu starring Vishnu Manchu, Revathi, Kota Srinivas Rao, Brahmanandam, Navdeep, Tejaswi Madivada, Madhu Shalini.

There’s a cab driver, a serial killer in Hyderabad. DCP Gautham tries hard to catcht his criminal but couldn’t succeed in his mission and then enters a psychiatrist, Sailaja to help Gautham in solving the mystery of this serial killing.

Anukshanam is a film having everything you can expect from a slashed film which starts exploring the brain of a serial killer. It seem really loud and monotonous but the screenplay is so gripping and the runtime is short as well that turned big plus points of Anukshanam.

The film starts with introductions of few of the most famous serial killers and few of those who stay in India. Then starts the real story with a cab driver who is yet another serial killer in Hyderabad; and he’s doing all this without any motive in his mind. Like a mad man, he enjoys killing women one after the other. When DCP Gautham takes this case but fails to catch the killer, a psychiatrist, Sailaja comes forward to solve this mystery. These two together try to explore the mind of a serial killer and so the rest of the story forms how Gautham nabs the murderer.

The plot of Anukshanam is quite simple but it got the punch of depicting graphics. However, the graphics may be good but the script is so mediocre in most part of the film and this shows how the killer’s psychopath kills innocent people. Ram Gopal Varma designs this killer’s character well with great obsession with death, fear, pain and publicity. But he also avoids the need to make the criminal intelligent.

Surya, a new comer has done an excellent job as the serial killer. He attracts the audience with his acting skills but in the climax all that effort got wasted since he’s reduced to yet another average bloke.

Vishnu Manchu in Anukshanam has done a nice job as a serious cop, DCP Gautham. Revathy has also done a nice job at her role but it couldn’t add much to this drama. A big drawback of this film is that it couldn’t wrap all the proceedings.

Verdict: Anukshanam got so much potential as a true edgy film with a loud climax. However, for the experiments with the mind of a serial killer RGV had done here, you can watch it with your family and friends once.
