Mostly people look for healthy food items and skip searching for unhealthy food items. Today we’ll check few food items which should be dumped as much as possible even though it's our favorite. At least let’s think it is possible to reduce the intake of these food items.

 

1. Processed Meats

Processed meat products like hot dogs, bacons, lunch meats etc. contain preservatives such as nitrites and nitrates to keep them fresh but these are carcinogenic. They can increase the risk of various types of cancers especially colon cancer. SO keep away from these processed meats as much as possible.

 

2. Diet Foods and Beverages

It’s even worse to know that artificial sweeteners cause birth defects and are carcinogenic. Few include sucralose (Splenda), saccharine, etc. which cause cancer.

 

3. Micro waved Popcorn

 

 

Who doesn’t like popcorn! Whenever we visit for a show or even while traveling isn’t it a common food item in our hands? But they have chemicals lined on the micro waved popcorn bags which cause infertility. Not only this, it can also cause tumors due to the presence of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). Also the chemical, dicetyl used in the popcorn can cause lungs damage and cancer.

 

4. Soda Pop

Similar to the processed meats, these soda pops are carcinogenic. These are heavily loaded with chemicals, colors, sugars. It’s acidic to the body which leads the growth of cancerous cells or the tumors. Few chemicals like caramel color and its derivatives like 4-Methylimidazole (4-MI) also have carcinogenic properties. So it’s better stay away from them as much as possible.

 

5. Refined White Flours

Most of you might have known that refined flour is common in processed foods. But do you know that the carbohydrates present in them are excess which on regular consumption can increase the risk of breast cancer in women up to 220%? Foods with high glycemic content tend to increase blood sugar levels in the body. This leads to growth of tumor cells and they spread rapidly.

 

6. Refined Sugars

Refined sugars rapidly increase the insulin level in the blood which tends to increase the cancerous cells. Fructose rich sweeteners like high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) which is common in most processed foods such as cookies, cakes, sodas, juices, sauces etc. helps in growth of tumor cells.

 

7. Farmed Salmons

 

 

These lack vitamin D but they also mostly contaminated with chemicals that are cancer causing like polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), flame retardants, pesticides, and antibiotics.

 

8. Conventional Fruits

Do you think the fruit you are eating is healthy? Unfortunately 98% the answer is no. Yes, 98% of all conventional are producing contaminated fruits with cancer causing pesticides. So it is very important to make sure if the fruits are organic/verified to be pesticides free or not.

 

9. Hydrogenated Oils

These oils are mostly used in processed foods which change the structure in the body and become carcinogenic. So manufacturers slowly started replacing it with other safe oils or fats like palm oil but still Tran’s fats are unsafe for health.

 

10. Vegetable Oils

As discussed previously, fats and oils are not good for health. It is always advisable to avoid these oils as much as possible. At least make sure you remove the excess oil before eating or serving.

 

11. Instant Pasta

 

 

The delicious pasta is also in the list. Who doesn’t like it!! Mostly available in pasta in the market in the form of noodles, macaroni, etc. are made of plain white flour. They don’t contain vitamins, minerals, fibers. This is just the pasta you get from the market and make yourself at home but what about the instant pasta? It simply contains fats and salts which should be totally avoided. So say no to the Chinese even though it’s your favorite.

 

12. White Bread

I guess many of you know that bread isn’t healthy but still it is important to note and remember that white bread isn’t healthy at all. Opt for brown bread which is healthy instead.

 

13. Soup

Here is a simple question. Whenever you drink a bowl of soup, what do you think you are drinking? Well, it’s just a bowl of water, butter milk with some color, flavored powder, salt and preservatives. Though we find few vegetable pieces in them in some packets, but do you think they contain anything good in them? As far as we know fresh vegetables with no preservatives are good for health.

 

Similarly there is a big list of foods you must avoid out of which few are cheese, peanuts, soy sauce, doughnuts, sushi, turkey, bran muffins, reduced fat peanut butter, margarine, protein bars etc. You may be surprised to see the common food items you think are healthy and might be thinking it’s silly. But the point to be noted here is that everything has its own positives and negatives and they vary from each other. There are food items to be completely avoided, few are to be taken in limit and few can be taken but avoided to a little. Isn’t it true?
