With many must-use products in today’s market it’s hard to find out hype from reality for the skin care products of anti aging creams.  Here are some important common myths related to aged skin. We can go through different opinions of famous dermatologist’s.

1. Age is an important factor while shopping

Truth: Today’s market is mainly targeting middle aged women, i.e., 50 above age group. While thinking about this we wonder why people evolve round the age group. People who don’t belong to this 50 years age group should not use such creams. So are there products targeting the remaining age groups? Usually companies prepare their products for all age groups unless they advertise directly about the product for aged skin.

2. Age Spots are also signs of getting older

Truth: First of all, naming spots as age spots isn’t correct at all. These may come at any age. It’s just the result of sun exposure and lack of skin care. These can be prevented by using products containing ingredients such as niacinamide, hydroquinone and different other forms of Vitamin C. You don’t need any special expensive product for that.  Using such products and good sunscreen will prevent these skin spots.

3. Makeup is one of the reasons for Acne

Truth: May not be. No recent researches say that makeup or any other facial creams cause acne or pimples.  The main ingredients used usually in skin care products are not at all problematic to any type of skin. Rarely some women may experience breakouts of acne after use of particular skin care products. This might be caused from irritant or inflammatory response as a result of ingredients particularly to that person’s skin type. The problem may arise due to skin type. From thorough observations we can easily find out the problematic ingredients for such type of skin.

4. Higher SPF means higher protection

Truth: Ultraviolet rays are mainly of three types. UVA, UVB, and UVC. Many products available in the market offer protection against UVA & UVB. UVC rays are generally absorbed by the atmosphere and do not reach the ground.UVA rays because the skin produce tan by deep penetration into the skin and UVB rays are the sunburn rays basically. These two rays damage our skin’s DNA and cause photo aging. Broad spectrum means protection against both UVA & UVB rays at once. It is advisable to go for more than 15 SPF and also check for the ingredients like titanium dioxide, mexoryl, oxybenzone or avobenzone (Parsol 1789) for UVA protection.

5. Dry skin is more prone to wrinkles than oily skin

Truth: According to Brandt “Oiy skin may ward off wrinkles more easily because of it’s thickness, which tends to offer more natural protection against wrinkles or sun damage. This doesn’t mean that oily skin never look old. Factors like sun exposure and smoking cause wrinkles and speed up aging process. Oily skinned women might have higher level testosterone harmones which helps protect skin against diminished collagen levels which in turn results in wrinkles. Whatever the opinions may be, the sun exposure and smoking are the main elements for aging process regardless of skin type.

So, these are few of the most common skin care myths. I hope this helped you find the facts.
