Heart

Since many years doctors have kept on telling us that early intervention reduces the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Now researchers say that proper diet and proper exercise regime can reduce the probability of diabetes and heart disease up to 75%.

This was the result of a study undergone last year in Chennai. They sent motivational text messages to the people in that group regarding exercise and diet. As a result it was found that only 18% of the group who received these messages was motivated compared to 27% of those who didn’t receive messages. These messages brought 9% difference among these participants. Researchers took 422 men from each group for the study and after 6 months, 130 of these men had normal blood sugar levels while 306 men were pre-diabetic.

After 2 years, researchers have found that 7 out of those 130 members who were normal slowly developed diabetes while 71 out of 306 were pre-diabetic.

Diabetes

This analysis by the doctors shows the risk came down to 75% in the group of participants with lower and normal blood sugar levels. Many of them now have lower BMI or body mass index and normal blood sugar levels. This also reduced the risk of heart diseases.

Most of the Indian population is suffering from diabetes now. So, as per doctors, prevention is the key. All those who are in pre-diabetic stage don’t require any medication. They can just take healthy diet and follow proper exercise regime. This way you can reverse yourself back to normal stage or at least stay where you are preventing yourself to reach the diabetic stage.
