Who doesn’t like the juicy, cool and sweet fruit, pear? I must say that it’s one of my favorite fruits. I love the juiciness and the cooling effect it gives especially in summers when we need it the most. Plus they are of various types like Bosc, Anjou, and Bartlett each look different from the other. Moreover they contain lots of fibers, anti-oxidants which provide many health related benefits.

 

Pears

 

Health Benefits:

 

1. Blood Pressure:

Anti-oxidants and glutathione which is anti-carcinogen are present in pears which prevent high blood pressures and thus prevent strokes.

 

2. Prevents cancer:

Vitamin C and copper present in pears protect cells from damaging due to free radicals thus prevent cancer. Also the high content of fiber in pears binds to the carcinogenic cells and remove them preventing colon cancer. A pear if taken everyday can prevent breast cancer I women after menopause up to 34%.

 

3. Cholesterol:

Pectin can also be found in pears in high quantity which lowers the cholesterol levels.

 

4. Healthy Colon:

The high content of fiber in a whole fruit of pear can improve your colon health.

 

5. Constipation:

Regular intake of pears juice regulates bowel movements due to the presence of pectin in it which is diuretic and has mild laxative effect.

 

6. Energy:

Pear is rich in glucose and fructose. So it gets absorbed by the body easily and gives instant energy. Thus a pear can be told as a natural source of energy.

Anti-oxidants like vitamin C, copper in pears improves immunity. When you think cold may catch you, drink a glass of pears juice.

Summer is the time when there is more chance of shortness of breath with excessive phlegm and so at this period pears can help you.

 

13. Vocal Cord:

For better throat health and vocal cord, boil some pear juice with some honey and drink it. This is grea for throat problems.

 

14. Throat problem:

As discussed before, pears have cooling effects which cools down the body during those hot summers. Take pears or its juice regularly both in the morning and night and prevent those throat problems.

 

15. Blood Sugar level:

The fruit may be sweet but it helps n controlling the blood sugar levels preventing the most common problem these days, diabetes.

 

16. Against Free radicals:

The free radicals always attack our healthy cells and damage them. Vitamin C, Vitamin K and copper is present in high quantities in pears which are very efficient at fighting against free radicals.

As said before the high fiber content in pears reduces the cholesterol level in the body due to which the risk of heart problems reduces up to 50% if taken fiber rich foods regularly. Pears are available during summer. So during other seasons, you need to find other food with more fibers in it.

 

18. Digestion:

Take a medium sized pear a day and you’ve taken 20-25% of the daily intake of fibers already. This insoluble fibers move through the colon preventing colon polyps and improves digestion.

 

19. Weaning Children:

If your child is weaning then you can give this hypoallergenic, low acetic pear which does not create any stomach related problems at all. You can simply peel, heat and puree it to feed. Even the peel can be fed but see that the edges don’t harm the child if he/she is very small.

 

20. Gallbladder, Colitis, Gout, Arthritis:

Pears are also good in preventing gallbladder related problems, colitis, arthritis, gout etc. But the fruit should be taken regularly.

By now you are very well aware of the benefits of this amazing fruit. There is no dosage for this since you can easily have 2 fruits a day. This is available only in summer and so take the best advantage of summers.
