Our Top 10 Summer Skin Care Tips

 

The hottest season, the summer is here and the temperatures invite us to spend most of our time under sun. We can’t stop going out just because the temperature is high. Then how to protect ourselves? This is the time when we need extra care to protect ourselves from not only treat and weak but also from skin damage. Here are the top and must follow tips this summer.

 

 

1.     Cleanse Regularly

Remember the CTM rule?  This is the first step and one of the most important rules of skin care. Whether you are all the day indoors or outdoors, it is important to cleanse your skin twice a day. Make a habit of cleansing based n your skin type. Choose what suits you best and get addicted to it.

 

2.     Exfoliation is a must

Exfoliation is always recommended but it is very much important during summer to remove the unwanted dead cells. Exfoliating dead cells at least twice a week is highly recommended. Get a good scrub from the market or make it easily with your kitchen ingredients. Take 3-4 spoons of gram flour, a pinch of turmeric, some rose water or milk or yogurt. Mix it well and use as a scrub.

 

 

3.     Close your skin pores

Closing skin pores is very important especially after exfoliation. Don’t leave your skin pores open during this hot season. Get a good toner from the market or simply use rose water.

 

4.     Don’t avoid moisturizers

As you know how important moisturizing is. CTM includes moisturizing but these moisturizers may make you feel oily and sticky during summers. In that case, it is recommended to use water based moisturizers instead of your regular creams.

 

5.     Protect Skin with Sunscreen

Sunscreen comes into mind as soon as we think of the sun and the summer. Choose the right sunscreen that best suits you. It should be applied every four hours an make sure you reply after swimming or when you get in contact with water.

 

6.     Stay indoors from 10am to 4pm

Although it is suggested to stay indoors during day time, it is not possible. So, at least try staying indoors from morning 10 to evening 4 during which you have more chances of damaging your skin.

 

7.     Get rid of tan

Tanning is very common during this season and precautions should b taken to avoid tanning but what about old tan which you already gained? One of the best home based packs is the gram flour and lemon pack. Mix these two and use it at least twice a week. The citrus properties in lemon help in reducing those dark patches and evens out the skin tone. If possible try adding tomato to this mixture. Tomato is also a proven ingredient in reducing tan.

 

8.     Clothing

As much as possible it is advisable to avoid exposing your skin to the sun. Wear long sleeved tops and full length dresses. Make a habit of using a hat or scarf this season. Choose light colors over dark shades since dark colors absorb heat quickly compared to light colors. Choosing a right fabric is also important. Silk may irritate you and also absorb heat. Cotton is mostly preferred for this season. Get cooling glasses to protect your sensitive eyes as well from sun.

 

9.     Lots of water

Summer is the season when your body gets dehydrated very easily. Minimum 8 glasses of water is recommended but this season, try having more. Keep in mind that there is a limit too. Never exceed 4 liters in a day.

 

10.   Healthy food

Like from outside, it is very important t take care of your health from inside as well. This season you get tired easily and most of your energy is lost. If you are healthy from inside, your skin will obviously glow. Avoid processed foods and cut down those sugars and fats which lead to unbalanced blood sugar levels. Take green vegetables and fruits. See that you eat all the colors regularly. Ensure that your food is full of anti-oxidants, flavonoids, vitamins and nutrients. Add healthy essential fats to your diet. D not avoid it completely.
