We eat various snacks during working days but don’t even think about their health benefits and nutrition values. To stay energetic at your workplace, you need to pay attention to the food you are consuming for lunch. Many people prefer carrying food from home instead of buying from a nearby restaurant. It’s a good way to make nice dishes and to provide necessary nutrients to your body and save time as well. If you are confused on what to eat, check the list of wholesome and nutritious foods below.In case you don’t know what to eat at work, I recommend you to consider the following list of wholesome and nutritious foods that you can take from home.

 

 

Lunch

 

 

1. Sandwich

 

Sandwich can be a good choice without any doubt for lunch during your working days. It’s tasty, healthy and keeps you full for many hours. This also takes less time to make. Keep it new everyday with various types of sandwiches. To keep it healthy, try sprouted grain bread for sandwiches. Also try turkey, greens, and organic mustards. For a change try Mediterranean sandwich. You can use feta, meat, onions, red peppers, and sandwich them between two bread slices.

 

 

2. Salad

 

Salad is yet another idea which you can never regret. It’s a yummy and perfect addition to your second course. It’s also full of vitamins and minerals that can do only good to your body. Try to add various veggies and leafy greens and get benefited with healthy skin and hair. This will give your body enough energy and let your brain work efficiently. Try cooking baby spinach, arugula, and kale.

 

 

3. Quinoa/ Rice Pilafs

 

Quinoa or rice pilafs are non-traditional for lunch but these are quite healthy and delicious.  Brown rice is rich in fiber and magnesium which will keep you full for long hours and give you energy. Since Quinoa is protein rich and extremely beneficial for you, you can try it with different fruits, vegetables and herbs.

 

 

4. Soup

 

Bringing soup to your work place is strange but this can keep you full till the end of the day. You can opt for a hot soup or a cold soup based on the season. Try Gazpacho for summer. Pureed and roasted soups suit best during winters since they make you warm. Use different vegetable as ingredients for your soup and freeze it in advance before carrying it to your work place.

 

 

5. Leftovers from Last Night

 

During nights we get some time to cook something delicious for dinner. So, save a piece of roasted chicken for lunch the next day and enjoy the tasty food in your in addition to your salad. Why not include green salad to this?

 

 

6. Hummus Platters

 

These days, people are choosing hummus platters more for lunch. Different types of vegetables like cucumbers, bell peppers, carrots are combined with hummus. These are rich in antioxidants as well but just hummus can’t really satisfy your hunger and so you should take some meat and few slices of cheese as well.

 

 

7. Other Unconventional Dishes for Lunch

 

Omelet with bacon and vegetables can be a good choice for lunch. Banana sandwich with some peanut butter is also a good choice which can keep you full for long hours. You can add something you like to your lunch but try to add salad with green vegetables since they carry many nutrients.
