Exfoliate

 

Now that the winter season is here, it’s time to change few things in our lifestyle. Coming to skin care, we have extra challenges and so we need to take extra care of it.

 

Dry skin looks dull due to dead skin cells and that is why this needs proper exfoliation every week.

 

While beauty expert, Shahnaz Hussain advises to use honey and brown sugar mixture to exfoliate since this exfoliates dead cells and moisturizes skin as well, skin specialist, Dr. Rashmi Shetty suggests using a product with natural exfoliation properties instead of harsh scrubs.

 

1. Apply lemon juice and leave it for 5 min before washing it off. If you want to use tamarind, rub its pulp for 2 min. This will dissolve the dead skin cells.

 

2. Drinking lots of water this season is really helpful in keeping your skin hydrated all the time. Whenever you go out, carry a bottle of water along with you. You may even like drink herbal tea to keep your skin moisturized.

 

3. Bathing with lukewarm water is better than hot water since it makes your skin dry. Use only mind and non-drying soaps. Your goal is to prevent your skin from drying and inching.

 

4. Like you keep your skin hydrated from inside always, you must moisturize from outside too. Get a good, oil based moisturizer for this season to keep your skin soft and moisturized. You need pay special attention to few areas such as hands, feet, lips, nails, etc. Make sure to moisturize them whenever you feel they are dry. You may have to do this from time to time in a day. Carry a lip balm, a hand cream and a foot cream in your bag always.

 

5. This season whenever you see the sun outside, you wish to go out and enjoy the rays for some time. But even this little exposure can damage your skin and so using a sunscreen with SPF 15 is must. You shouldn’t avoid sunscreen just because it’s winter.

 

6. Licking lips is a bad habit. You may want to lick them since your lips feel dry but licking will only make lips drier than before. So, whenever you feel your lips are dry, apply lip balm. Choose one with tea tree oil if possible if you have painful cracked lips.

 

7. Your health reflects on your skin. So, good health is must irrespective of the season. Take healthy diet and exercise regularly.
