Lemons

 

Lemons are so healthy and are flavour enhancers. These rich in vitamin C and so have so many health benefits to utilize. So, today we are going to see how we can use these citrus fruits.

 

1. We mostly see them in our salads, don’t we? Use them over your salad dressings. It improves the salad taste when squeezed some juice over it.

 

2. Citrus juice can tenderize the tough meat well. Squeeze the juice over the chicken or any other meat and leave it for at least 30 min. The time depends on what you are using lemon.

 

3. Suppose you’ve cut a fruit which is going to turn brown with time. Vitamin C can prevent this which is rich in lemons. Squeeze some of its juice over the fruit and keep it aside.

 

4. Like meat, it can also soften rice. To make your rice soft and whiter, mix few drops of lemon juice with it while cooking.

 

5. If you love pickles, why don’t you try to make preserved lemons using lemons, salt and rind. You can add them to tagines and bakes.

 

6. There’s a dish called Ceviche which is cooked in lemon juice as it marinates. Squeeze some lemon juice on the sides of white fish and leave it for 20 min. Season it using some pepper and salt, and top it using olive oil, herbs, and chopped coriander leaves.

 

7. Lemons are also being used as deserts. Try adding them to tarts, pastries, and pies. Just a zest of it as the topping can make the dessert delicious.
