Navratri and Durga Puja are dedicated to worship Goddess Durga all around the globe. It began on 25th Sep this year and this festival is being celebrated for 9 nights and most importantly nine forms of the Goddess are worshipped.

Every year devotees try to know the list of nine colours we are supposed to wear on each day. Here are those nine colours listed below.

 

 

Colours of Festival

 

 

1st Day: Ghantasthapana/Pratipada (25th Sep, 2014) – Yellow

 

Shailaputri Maa is worshiped this day who dresses Grey saree on this day when earthen pot is installed. Deevotees wear yellow this day.

 

 

2nd Day: Dwitiya (26th Sep, 2014) – Green

 

Bhrahmacharini Maa is worshiped this day and is believed that she enlightens forms with great power, spiritual and divine grace and she dresses orange. All the devotees should wear green this day.

 

 

3rd Day: Tritiya (27th Sep, 2014) – Grey

 

Chandraghanata Maa is worshipped this day who symbolizes serenity, peace, bravery and beauty of one’s life. She dresses white this day. This day devotees perform Gauri vrata and Sindhoor Tritiya Sowbhagya Teej wearing grey color.

 

 

4th Day: Chaturthi (28th Sep, 2014) – Orange

 

Kushmanda Maa is worshiped this day who is the creator of this universe and she wears red saree. Bhouma Chaturthi is followed this 4th day and all the devotees wear orange.

 

 

5th Day: Panchami (29th Sep, 2014) – White

 

Skandamata is worshiped on 5th day who demolishes the demons dressing the blue saree. Devotees follow Upang Lalitha Gauri Vrata wearing white.

 

 

6th Day: Shashti (30th Sep, 2014) – Red

 

Katyayani Maa is worshiped this day who is known as avatar of Durga Maa and she wears yellow saree. This day Maha Shashti is observed and all the devotees wear red coloured clothes.

 

 

7th Day: Saptami (1st Oct, 2014) – Blue

 

Kaalaratri Maa protects all the devotees and she’s worshiped on this 7 day. She wears green saree. Maha Saptaami is observed this day and the devotees wear blue.

 

 

8th Day: Ashtami (2nd Oct, 2014) – Pink

 

Maha Gauri maa is worshiped today and is regarded for forgiving her devotees’ sins and helping in getting purified. She wears peacock green on this Durga Ashtami. This day Saraswati Puja is observed this day devotees wear pink.

 

 

9th Day or 10th Day – Navami or Dasami or Dussehra (3rd Oct, 2014) – Purple

 

Siddhidatri Maa with great supernatural powers wears purple and is worshiped on this special day. Maha Navami puja and Kanya puja are done this day giving importance to ladies. Devotees wear purple this day. Both Navami and Dashami fell on the same day.
