Hand Wash

Are you planning to get any anti-bacterial soap for your kids? Then check if the soap contains widely used chemicals or not.

A study says washing hands with antibacterial soap exposes people especially health workers to unsafe chemical levels which can interfere with hormones causing developmental problems in fetuses and newborn babies.

Thousands of consumer products such as soaps, cosmetics, toothpastes, acne creams, etc. contain a synthetic antibacterial agent, Triclosan. Exposure to this chemical can cause health related problems according to FDA researchers.

These soaps contain such risky chemicals which most of the people use. Hospital workers who use antibacterial soaps were found to have higher levels of triclosan in their urine samples compared to those who used plain soaps. Another research showed that washing with antibacterial soaps resulted in more triclosan levels than brushing teeth with triclosan toothpaste.

So, it is advisable to use non-triclosan soaps if available. These are pretty good alternative than anti-bacterial soaps. Try to avoid various other products such as toothpastes, cosmetics, etc. that contain triclosan.
